What's that stink? Part deux.

Seriously, every time I opened my cupboard, I was like, what's that stink?? GOODDD it's so gross. I mean EVERY time. I even took all the items off the bottom shelf and scrubbed it with arm and hammer soda stuff. And still...it persisted. Finally, I was like Hob, what's that stink in my cupboard? And he's like...that's no stink, that is asafetida. And sure enough, staring me in the face was this jar of asafetida he had left in there from when we had been cooking Indian.

Asafoetida (Ferula assafoetida, family Apiaceae), alternative spelling asafetida (also known as devil's dung, stinking gum, asant, food of the gods, hing, and giant fennel) is a species of Ferula native to Iran.

Notice that name, "stinking gum." Actually it is good stuff that helps your belly so you don't...well you know cabbage and beans? What they do to you? Well ironically, this stuff counteracts that- so it always makes you smell fresh like a daisy. Unfortunately in the jar, it does the exact opposite. hmm, I wonder if it is a coincidence that it is called ASA (pronounced ass-a) fetida.

Happy Monday,
Ms. Non-Sequitur

I have never heard of this. But that is because I've never farted.

that is hilarious. I have some of that stuff, but it's in a sealed container. I don't smell it. Hmm... I'm glad your farts don't stink. :)
