Mutinondo

Image
Whoa! What a cool place this Mutinondo  was!  It is is a woodland, wilderness area NORTH EAST of Lusaka about 10 hours by bus. (Sorry about the yelling, that is a little shout out to my friend, you know who you are) (Also,  let me know if the link doesn't work) There were these gorgeous look-out points and mountains....well, large granite hills, but they were steep enough and we climbed up 2 of them. It took about 30 minutes to get to the top of each.  In the top video I'm reaching the top of the mountain!  You can hear our cool driver Mr. K cheering? :) me on!  These photos are in no order exactly, but I'll talk a little about each one! I think this one is on top of the first mountain, called Charlie's Rock This is horse poop (I know you are supposed to say scat in the wilderness, but I think horse poop is funnier. The place has some horses that we didn't ride) The view. Whoa. A little creature roaming around. He was furry and I wonder if he or she o

Tiny Visitor

Surprise! What did Talie and Ms. Sequitur find? HA I meant Ms. NON-Sequitur of course.... How exciting, a teeny tiny (or tee-niny as my Grandma B says) little critter. A baby gecko is gracing her presence on my keyboard. Check out this amazing video footage taken immediately upon noticing the gecko/lizard/cold blooded animal: PS: I made it to work today. I continue to do a Christian Cross each time I arrive somewhere. If anyone knows another religious type sayings I can do or say when I am safe, I would appreciate it. I'm not sure if Jesus and I are vibing.  BIG HUGS Non-Sequitur!

Effing Effing Effing Internet. I'm so mad right now because I was just about to chat with Hot Lips and Mags and the stupid internet data limit was reached and she's over there across the ocean and Mags is over there too and they are probably wondering wtf happened to me. Anyway, I'll write this blog post tonight and then post it tomorrow so they have something fun to read! It was a great weekend everyone! I played in a tennis tournament, here Ruby's Mom and I are with with a racket and Ruby. I'll call them Racket Pose 1 and Racket Pose 2. :) The racket is actually borrowed, we had borrowed two blah blah blah- Today though, we our own bought rackets at this store called Game. Game is basically like Target but like dustier without any clothes.  I also bought a loaf pan, a cookie sheet and some other crap I can't remember.   Here I am in action: In Other News: Thurs night and Fri, BC and RM and I were all hanging out on our day off because of the election

Pretty Flowers and a Broken Mug

Image
It was the BritCan's idea to take this photo the pink against the blue sky! So the credit goes to him. The flowers are really starting to get exciting here. I have a whole bunch of shots of the ones in my backyard. We have a day off tomorrow because of the elections. There's this talk of riots, but it's still pretty calm where I am, just like this picture.  FYI the opposition party is in the lead and that's kind of exciting here. There is this organic cafe farm place and this is a shot of the garden. Maybe you foodies will see something of interest in there. This picture represents Zambian quality. :) Teasing. BUT seriously, some of the stuff here isn't very...good? This mug broke when I was drying it with a towel. OR I basically have some super human strength :) I want to post some more pictures and stuff, but I left the camera connector thing and school and now since we don't have school tomorrow, I probably won't be able to post again until Sunday!

Canoeing down the Lower Zambezi

The group, ours and locals going on to the car ferry.  Entrance to the park Dang, what are these birds, I think they are Camden, or Carmen Bug Eaters? or something. Very pretty. The first African elephant I saw! Much Larger than Asian Elephants Who is that lurking in the water??  Some Hippos! Gorgeous stork (I think?) Another elephant. I wonder if he is older, as shown by his color variation? Me reading the book that the new parents (M and R) gave me! Also, notice the 3 beverages. The one in the glass is called a Malawi Shandy and is great. I think it's ginger ale, bitters and...maybe just that. A Rock Shandy is with lemonade instead of ale.   The evening cruise, didn't see nearly as much wildlife, but this guy was yawning.  Zambian Sunset! A baobab tree. Very cool. I wonder if they are unique to Zambia? Happy Animals to you all! Non-Sequitur

Less than a week

Image
Well, It's time to put some more pictures on this thing! Why not? So here some from my goodbye party. I'm leaving in less than a week now. Crap time goes fast. The little girl is the first pic is, well, we'll call her Lil' M.  I forgot the nickname I used to use for H in the second... She brought out a cake as "Africa" by Toto was on the tunes, everyone was singing it and it brought tears to my eyes. I think I'll call her HA because she makes me laugh :) Anyway, she also bought/brought the map in the background. I thought we needed a map since no one knows where Zambia is! Everyone signed it and wrote sweet messages. Except A and C who made a "dirty" picture, which was also quite charming :) Currently, I'm kickin' it at the homestead, seeing family before I leave. I've got 4 bags packed and I've mailed 3 boxes of school books. There's a few more things on the list, including purchasing a special item which I shant name he

The Hot Mess is Messy-The Packing Report

So I'm trying to pack up all my shit. (Can I swear on here?) for Zambia, which I think I already talked about in a previous blog post. The problem is that packing is hella pain in the ass. Mostly I just move things from one pile to the next and eventually the piles disappear but it takes forever. At least there are paths through my living room. I'm like an ant. Tiny and petite lifting things twice my weight.  The bookshelves are actually pretty empty, so that's a start. I'm dreading the pile on top of my dresser and the one in the bathroom. I just seem to have an organizational system for my jewelry that's called, "piling."  So I dig around and sometimes lose things and sometimes FIND things. Like I just found these awesome gold earrings I'd forgotten about since I wore them last on a trip I took to Florida 2 years! It was a BONUS find! Anyway, I better get crackin' because once CousinQ returns on Thursday, life will be full of

Doors

I've always had a pretty good relationship with doors. Unfortunately, last night, we had a scuffle. So let's see, where to start. Well, first I had some beverages with Uncle J at 5ish and waited for my chums to join around 7, well to make a short story shorter, I drank one too many beers and we went to get some pizza. The pizza place is across the street where the ex hangs out. In my stupidity, I ran over there to check if he was there. I saw his friend, freaked out, saw the back of his head and ran back to the pizza place. A few minutes later, he shows up and I try to hide under the table, while putting a coat over my face to "hide" from him. lol Since I was getting stressed out about the whole situation, I decided to flee. I asked the King to get out of the booth and I proceeded to run out the door. Unfortunately, the door was locked and I slammed myself and my bad wrist right into it! OWW . (Hot Lips didn't see it, but she reported the next day that she h
