India #1

My first mission is to do some hotel shopping for a few days in the future. 1st step, Starbucks- not to plug such a beast of a company, but in non - western country it's like this peaceful oasis of toilet paper, real lattes AND most importantly, free wifi! :) I found spots to stay and called them and then walked around Colaba without consulting any of the places I spoke with :) Backup.... I should have started with the taxis! Whoa! Street lanes are optional! It's so exciting and Ruby's mom would have a fit because none of the taxis have seat belts. Luckily my training in Shanghai set me up for success! The taxis are super cheap too!  After checking out hotels, I was off to the museum, so obviously I spent the afternoon shopping! It started by trying on these ridiculous beaded, no not beaded, they are fake jewels and they are in these elaborate designs with sleeves that hang like wizard's sleeves.  So I think these are for Muslim parties, and they look something

Mauritius Part 1

Image
Our trip begins with a free pass to the AirFrance business class lounge?! Where did that come from? I guess because we were high rollin' it at an all inclusive in Mauritius. They don't seem to do that when you do all inclusives in Cancun! These pictures are all out of order, but this is the view from a little cafe. This water spray was in that tube at the top very refreshing. It wasn't super hot there though. Very pleasant in general.  I'm drinking Mauritius beer here! It's called, Phoenix! These ladies were crazy! We walked in the shop and they immediately were giving us shots of home made rum! It was made by infusing vanilla and something else into the rum! It might have been the best rum I ever drank. And don't forget Ruby's Mom in the left corner. We immediately signed up for a boat trip with these lady's tour company! The pictures from the boat are in the next blog post!  WHOA check out that amazing fish!! IN THE FIS

Chimfunzi

I had the best time going on a field trip to a chimpanzee refuge on the northern border of Zambia, almost to the DRC.  Here is a LINK to their website and below are some pics about the adventure. I was trying to get a photo of a copper mine on the way, I don't know if this one was one or not?  At some point the driver said, that's a mine, but I don't know if this is the corresponding photo.  Fire Pit at the camp. The ants go marching one by one hurraaah, hurraaah Seriously, there were some crabby chimps and we got pummeled by them! They were defending their territory apparently! At least it wasn't poop. They throw that when they really don't like you!  Day 1 of chimp observations. This was an awesome field trip for me because I just got to hang out and watch the animals. "Chimfunzi" acutally means "Place that holds water."  It was given this name because of this gorge, which is dry now, bu

#2 THE FALLS!

Uncle J's little old camera takes pretty good shots!! Check out the video at the end. The Falls  We were getting soaked from the spray and it was sunny! So fun! DOUBLE RAINBOW for HotLips :) Closer up of me in the spray. My pants, sorry trousers (you can't say pants around the British you know, they think you mean underpants) were soaked through. HA, in this case, my pants got.... every word I want to write here doesn't seem appropriate... SO AMAZING! I'll see you all in Zambia ASAP
